    L M Brown, FRICS
    Director

    Les started his GP training in 1972 and qualified ARICS in 1977 (FRICS in 1987) working with Kenneth Ryden & Partners (now Rydens) where he gained broad experience in all aspects the west coast property markets. He joined Bernard Thorpe & Partners (now DTZ ) in Feb 1978 and has worked in the residential market ever since. In 1991 he left to join the then newly formed Barr Brady & Partners. He specializes in Residential Surveys. He is also responsible for the firm’s client complaints handling procedures for the West Coast Offices.

    Managing Director/Company Secretary

    Gerry qualified in 1978 with a BSc in Land Economics and became a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 1979. He joined Fyfe Gerard & Paton in 1978 as an Assistant Surveyor, and then joined Abbey National Building Society as a Staff Surveyor in 1980. In 1988 he re-joined Fyfe Gerard & Paton as a Partner. In 1990 he started the firm Barr Brady & Partners. He specializes in residential and commercial surveys with emphasis on the South of the City. He is also the firms Company Secretary.

    Joan McLaughin
    Operations Manager

    Joan has been employed with Barr Brady since 1999 and is responsible for HR, Training, Quality Assurance, Customer Feedback, Health and Safety and Premises issues. Prior to joining Barr Brady, Joan worked in the financial sector for 19 years.

    Director

    Ian trained as a Quantity Surveyor and extensive knowledge of construction and defects was developed along with a general understanding of the building industry. An interest in the residential market developed and he qualified as a General Practice surveyor carrying out residential inspections in the East Coast market. He joined Barr Brady in 1995 in the Edinburgh office and have been involved in the overall management of the firm. He is also responsible for all Lenders/Panel Appointments.

    Finance Manager

    Carol-Ann has been employed with Barr Brady since 2001 and is responsible for all Finance, Marketing, Insurances and Telecommunications. Prior to joining Barr Brady Carol-Ann worked in Finance in two legal firms for some 16 years.

    Stewart has over 20 years experience of residential Valuation Surveying in the West of Scotland, having joined Barr Brady in 1996. Based at the Lanarkshire Office in Hamilton, Stewart is able to provide a high quality and personal service to clients wishing clear and unambiguous advice on residential property matters in the Lanarkshire area.

    Neil has over 20 years of residential valuation survey work in the West of Scotland, predominantly in the Glasgow area. He joined Barr Brady in 1992 as an Associate, becoming a Partner in 1996. He is responsible for IT. He is also a main Board Director with First Surveyors Scotland, the largest independent firm of surveyors in Scotland.

    Ronnie qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1992 and has been with Barr Brady since 1993, having worked as an Associate in both the Glasgow and Helensburgh offices, before transferring full time to Helensburgh in 2005, and becoming the Director in charge of Helensburgh office in 2007. Having been born in the town and lived locally all his life, Ronnie has extensive local knowledge of the Helensburgh, Dumbarton and Argyll areas, being primarily involved in the inspection and valuation of residential properties. Ronnie prides himself in providing a friendly and efficient service.

    Allan is a Director in the Edinburgh Office with over 32 years professional experience in Residential and Commercial Valuation work throughout the Central Belt of Scotland. Aside from normal survey and valuation work, he specializes in portfolio valuations and development appraisals.

    Gary Haggarty, BSc (Hons) MRICS
    Director

    Gary joined Barr Brady in 2000, and graduated with an Honours Degree in Building Surveying in 2002. After qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor in 2004, Gary quickly became an established member of the team, gaining vast experience of all aspects of the residential market, specialising in the West End and North of the City of Glasgow. Gary achieved Associate Director Status in 2007 and was appointed Director in May 2010, and is responsible for the Firm’s Building Consultancy Department. He is also a qualified RICS APC Assessor, a process he is continually actively involved in.
